I have tried to imagine myself sweeping down that staircase but I think I’d end up a crumpled heap at the bottom!

Me too. I never was good at handling the ultra dressing-up stuff. We visited one of the plantation houses when in Louisiana and the entrance included a Mint Julep on the veranda, which had me salivating. Finally, I’d get to be a Southern Belle. But it came in a plastic glass! No, not even plastic glass, a white plastic one. Dreams were shattered and the dress trailing in the dirt became a reality.

Don’t you just love the double stairs up to the front door…I’m sure it’s gorgeous inside also!
I like the smithy on Bourbon St….

Yes, all very Scarlett O’Hara, sweeping long dresses and ‘Lordy me, Missie Maria, youse a right purty li’l gal!
But the Smithy, all thereby hangs a tale. Quite dangerous characters were the Lafite brothers.

You could live next to some famous writers there. Although I love Nola for a holiday I don’t think I could live there. Too edgy for me!
